Planning an International Talk Like a Pirate Day Party

A very important holiday is just around the bend, and it's not Labor Day! In case you haven't been checking the Reasons to Party list regularly, September 19th is International Talk Like a Pirate day. It's an excellent opportunity to get the entire family together for a night of grog and plunder at a Pirate Day party. In honor of this special holiday, Punchbowl has an assortment of free pirate themed greeting cards to send to friends and family.
If you haven't begun planning your Talk Like a Pirate Day party, get starrrrted! Grog, is a surprisingly delicious lime juice and rum combination and will be a perfect pirate party adult beverage. Seafood is an ideal party food choice, and can be incorporated into both appetizers and main courses. For dessert, make sugar cookies that have been decorated to look like pirate's gold. To really mimic the golden glow of treasure, brush some egg yolk over the tops of the cookies before you bake them.
More Pirate Day ideas include asking guests to arrive dressed as their favorite pirate character, having a buried treasure scavenger hunt, doing a double feature of your favorite pirate themed movies and doing pirate themed charades. Use your guest list for pirate party inspiration - the ages and interests of your guests will dictate pirate party ideas. If it's an adults only party, arrange a game table and make a festive paella. For just kids, spend all your time outside doing crafts or playing hide and seek. The best part will be dressing up, so include those details in your pirate party invitation.
