Halloween Lighting Effects

Add spunk and pizazz to your party with Halloween lighting effects! There are lots of ways you can illuminate this delightfully dark holiday with spotlights, window lights, strobe lights, colored bulbs, and more. Create an atmosphere to set the scene for a Halloween party or to attract the trick-or-treaters.
Here are a few Halloween lighting ideas to get you started:
  • Colors: Plan the colors of the lights based on traditional Halloween hues or colors that complement the theme of your party. For a traditional Halloween party, stick to orange Halloween lights and purple Halloween lights. Use green for a creepy ambience and red for a scary, devilish affair.
  • Spotlights: Set up spotlights at your Halloween party to highlight specific decorations. For example, place a spotlight in your front yard and direct it towards your front porch to draw attention to a Halloween decoration such as a skeleton or jack-o-lantern.
  • Window Lights: Set up Halloween window lights to attract trick-or-treaters to your home. Put lights inside of jack-o-lanterns and place them by the window. You can also purchase a decorative pumpkin or witch with small LEDs attached to the decoration. Place the Halloween decorations in the windows with suction cups.
  • Strobe Lights: Set up Halloween strobe lights to flash on and off during your Halloween bash. Choose one color for the strobe lights, or alternate the lights with multiple colors. Add a disco ball and reflect the strobe lights off the shiny surface.
  • String Lights: Hang Halloween string lights around the party to decorate the event. Purchase string lights in a specific color or combine multiple strings of lights in a variety of colors. Consider placing lights inside of small plastic Halloween figures such as pumpkins or witches.
Purchase your Halloween lights from a local party store or rent them from a lighting store. Compare the price difference between purchase and rental options, and consider whether or not you will use the same lighting next year for Halloween. Enjoy setting the mood for your celebration!
